Secret or loud and proud painter/gamer?
Definitely not secret, but I also don’t go around telling just anyone and
What age did you get into painting and what started it off?
I first got into miniature painting, specifically 40k, around 2009 or so, when I was about 26, though I’ve been doing other art-related stuff for a lot longer than that. The librarian at the university I was attending at the time had a little back room for storing 40k armies so people could play between classes, and one day I saw him painting during his lunch break. I’d never actually seen any 40k stuff before, so he introduced me to the general concept and let me paint and play with one of his many armies. Then I started on the Horus Heresy novels, got to A Thousand Sons and fell in love with the Fifteenth Legion, and decided I needed to start building my very own Thousand Sons army.
What was the first model you ever painted?
I can never remember if it was a Hormagaunt or Termagant, but it was one of those two! It belonged to the friend who initially got me into 40k – he let me try out painting it to see if it was something I’d enjoy. Turns out it was, and I wasn’t too bad at it either!
I love my Winsor & Newton Series 7 brushes, but I also really like Rosemary & Co. Series 33. As for paint, I’m hooked on Citadel paints, partly because they’re what I’m most familiar and comfortable with, partly because I like their system of organising paint types, but mostly because I can’t stand dropper bottles since I paint straight out of the pot and I’m too lazy to bother with a palette. ¬_¬
What are you working on right now?
Too many things! One of those being some Plague Marines from the Conquest magazines though – I have plans for that Nurgle army!
What model would you love to paint that you haven’t done yet? What models do you really enjoy painting?
I would love to get my hands on that new Keeper of Secrets model that Games Workshop released recently! And I most enjoy painting Thousand Sons models, but that’s because that’s the one army I actually own and have invested in, and I am heavily biased. 😉
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Browsing the internet in general! Looking at all the cool
What other creative outlets do you use (music, canvas, art, etc)?
I used to play both the piano and cello, and I occasionally draw stuff both traditionally and digitally. I also do a bit of writing every now and then when the mood strikes, and I play a good number of role-playing games.
What is your favourite convention or event? What event would you like to go
I don’t really have a
