Secret or loud and proud painter/gamer? A little bit of both. All of the people I care about know (welcome to the club!).

What age did you get into painting and what started it off? 14 (1995). One of my friends started collecting Skaven and asked me to help him get an army painted. We learned a lot of techniques through trial and error, which I then applied to my own models.

What was the first model you ever painted? The first model I painted for myself was a 2nd Ed. Space Marine Librarian in Terminator armour.

What other creative outlets do you use (music, canvas art, etc)? I play the guitar and I like to write in all its forms.

What is your favourite miniature or company's miniature to paint? Nothing beats a Dark Angel in Robes. Most recently, I have been enjoying the Corvus Belli USAriadna sculpts.

What is your favourite brush/paint brand? Whatever gets the job done. Generally, I use Citadel paints, the Tamiya Clear range and Vallejo Model Air.

Are you a gamer as well as a painter? Not as much as I used to be, or would like to be. It is one of my goals this year to increase the amount of time I set aside for gaming.

How long have you been playing? 21 years.

What game systems do you play? Warhammer 40K, Infinity, Battletech, X-wing, Magic: The Gathering, Pirates of the Spanish Main.

What's your game of choice? At the moment, I would have to say the X-wing miniatures game. Battletech was my first love.

What interests you about those games? They are all very different, Warhammer 40K has an enthralling and extensive mythology, Infinity is dynamic and stylish, Battletech is like an old friend, X-wing is wonderfully accessible, MtG has its fingers in all the fantasy pies and Pirates of the Spanish main has little pirate ships and treasure (what’s not to love about that?). Overall, I love the way these games bring creative people together and give them a medium through which they can express themselves in diverse and amazing ways.

What is your favourite convention or event have you gone to? I love attending Armies on Parade every year. The effort that people put in to creating and displaying their armies is inspiring.

Favourite gaming moment/war story? I have way too many happy gaming memories to pick a favourite and all of the war stories I know are too sad.

What are you working on right now? All the things! An Iron Snakes army, a Dark Angels demi-company, an XCOM themed USAriadna army, a battalion of Draconis Combine Mechs (7th Sword of Light) and a Bespin defense fleet for the X-wing miniatures game.

What model would you love to paint that you haven't done yet? I would love to do a 30K Primarch from Forgeworld. I’m just waiting for the right one…

Where do you get your inspiration from? Classic literature is a big source of inspiration for me. I also draw a lot of strength from playing an active role in various online communities.
